About 1BG

RE: God's Great Plan

creation.jpg

"As the first action of Father, Son and Holy Spirit, creation is the first step towards the convenant relationship God seeks with every human being"

Religious Education Curriculum Directory

The children will learn about the beauty of God's World and explore and respond to the wonders of creation e.g. the seasons. They will also hear about the story of Creation from Genesis and talk about its meaning. They will be reflecting on the knowledge that God made us because he loves us and develop their understanding that we show God we love him by looking after the world and each other. They will learn that we can spoil God's creation and that we have a responsibility to look after it, as well as hearing an appropriate part of the story of Noah and the Flood and it's message of salvation and hope.

At home

You could help your child by:

*talking about how we can look after the world, e.g. recycling, not dropping litter, conserving energy and how we can care for plants and animals

*look at the trees during the Autumn season and talk about the different colours. You could collect leaves to make a collage or painting.

Reminders

Please ensure your child brings a water bottle to school every day.

Please label ALL clothing and belongings.

Physical Education (PE)

Our P.E day is Friday, please ensure your child comes in to school on Wednesday wearing their P.E Kit. School uniform for P.E is a white t-shirt, black or navy-blue shorts and black pumps. As P.E lessons will largely be held outside to support social distancing, your child may require something warmer to wear as the weather becomes colder. This could include black or navy-blue jogging trousers, a sweatshirt and trainers. Please ensure that all items of kit are clearly labelled with your child’s name.  For health and safety reasons, children cannot wear jewellery for PE, so all children need to either be able to remove their earrings or they should be removed in the morning before school.

Homework

Homework will be sent home on a Friday to be completed by the following Thursday. The children will recieve spelling every week aswell as a piece of Grammar, Phonics or Maths homework. Homework will be sent out via google classroom and a hard copy will also be given. Please return your child's homework on Google Classroom by uploading a picture.

Reading

The children will bring home a new reading book every time they bring back their old book in their book bag. Please listen to your child read out loud and record this in their diary. Discuss any vocabulary that they are not sure of.

Spellings

Children need to be able to read and spell all of the Year 1 common exception words by the end of the year.

Parent/Carer Curriculum Information

Throughout the year we will attach overviews with more information about what your child will be learning in each curriculum area during each term. We cover a variety of exciting topics throughout the year and may ask your child to bring in items from home to support these.
